Bacteria on Dental Bib Holders
You know those metal chains that many dentists put around your neck attached to the bib? Do you know they reuse those over and over again all day, everyday without sterilizing? Think any disgusting bacteria get on them from all the drilling and polishing that is occurring everyday? Well at least 4 studies have found out just how much is really on those metal bibs and it is not pretty! While most of the bacteria found would not be a problem for healthy people it could pose a threat for those with a weakened immune system. The list of bacteria found is extensive but to list a few; pseudomonas, E. coli and S. aureus (the most common cause of staph infection).
We have been using a product called Bib-eze for the last couple years now and are very happy. It’s simple and easy to use and since it’s single use their is no risk of cross patient contamination.
