Venous lake corner lip
Venous lake in the lip corner – Laser treatment
Jacob called our office with what he believed from his internet research was a venous lake lesion. He lives in New Jersey so he would need to travel quite a distance to see us. In cases where people are not local, we have them take several photos of the lesion and email it to our staff. These photos allow Dr. Bauer to confirm that the lesion is in fact a venous lake before traveling. Typically people have exhausted all local options when they reach out to us. Usually the best they have heard is to treat the lesion with an incision and attempt to tie off the blood vessel. This is invasive, leaves a scar, and always results in the lesion returning.
After Dr. Bauer reviewed the photos Jacob emailed us, he confirmed that the lesion was a venous lake. We scheduled Jacob for a 30 minute visit at which we treated the venous lake with our laser.
Like many of our patients that travel, Jacob sent a photo about 3 weeks later to show us the healing. Here was his email text, “Thank you Dr. Bauer for everything! The laser procedure on my venous lake was a success! I truly appreciate the care and attention that you and your staff have given me!”
Hello, I have a hemangioma on my lip since birth. I feel I have developed a venous lake in the past month. You are a dentist that also does laser on lips? I had my lip lasered many years ago It did not remove the hemangioma I think it caused a scar on my lip so I’m alittle hesitant in laser, but would like any suggestions.
Thank You, Diana
We do not have scar formation there are a bunch of before and after photos on here you can look at. Our main venous lake page goes into a lot of detail.
