Jane’s implant supported zirconia bridge story
The implant supported zirconia bridge and Jane….. Jane had suffered from Sjorgen’s for years. Due to the dry mouth that Sjorgen’s causes, she slowly lost nearly all of her lower teeth. A regular denture was out of the question as the combination of dry mouth making the tissue very brittle and a movable denture would have resulted in constant sores and tears in her gum tissue. Therefore, we opted for something similar to what is commercially known as an “All-on-4”.
Rather than use the traditional plastic for Jane, we upgraded this case to use zirconia. Used in place of the traditional metal colored titanium, zirconia is a white, super strong ceramic. For teeth we use the same porcelain we use on dental crowns, rather than the traditional acrylic (plastic) teeth of an all on 4. Although this looks somewhat similar to a traditional hybrid denture, it is much stronger. Implant supported zirconia bridges are less likely to break. Stats show 50% of acrylic all on 4s break in some way within 5 years. Furthermore, it will always look exactly because it doesn’t wear down like acrylic! We have developed our system so that you never have to go without teeth.
